Embarrasing story from last weekend

While camping this past weekend, Eric and Elise spent most of the 95+ degree Saturday afternoon swimming in the lake at the campground. Chloe and I walked down to the "beach" area after our attempt to get her to nap. (Thank goodness for A/C in the camper!) Anyway, the lake was really shallow throughout the beach area and a number of people had drug reclining lawn chairs (I know there's a word for those, but I can't think of it) out into the water.

So Elise is walking around playing in the shallow water with her life jacket on. Suddenly Elise yells to me (up on the shore, holding Chloe), "Mom, I'm gonna pee in the water!" and promptly squats down next to a woman in a lawn chair. 2 seconds later, she yells in an equally loud voice, "I peed, Mom!" Part of me wanted to crawl in a hole and the other part of me thought it was kind of funny. I guess I spend too much time around kids! For the record, I know that woman realized what was going on, but she didn't even budge. I think I would have moved if some kid said they were peeing right next to me. Oh well.

Well, I think we can finally say...

that Chloe is walking. One day after she turned 14 1/2 months, she is taking 10-15 steps before she falls down. But she's immediately right back up and going again. She is completely thrilled with herself, saying "Yay" and clapping with us. Look out world, here comes the Chloe monster!

The back view. And yeah, I was too excited and got my thumb in the picture.

Just a happy baby picture. Too bad she won't leave any of the cute barrettes I've got in her hair.

Her other favorite pastime. Climbing up the stairs. She's pretty good at up, but hasn't figured out down yet.

Almost there.

The girls Monday after we got home from another weekend adventure. I haven't been blogging too much lately because when I'm not doing something with the kids, I'm just too tired!

Camping Trip (from a couple of weeks ago)

Here's some pictures from our camping trip to Carlyle Lake with Eric's parents:

Campfire

The kids on the playground. Yes, Claire's shirt is full of pea gravel. Needless to say, that shirt did not make it through the trip!

Our camper:

Claire

An exhausted baby. She refused to sleep in her pack-n-play at night and at nap time. She also had just had a diaper explosion (I'll spare you the details) and was waiting for me to get back to give her a much needed shower.
